Photo Scrapbook

Christmas

Our December Photo Scrapbook page shows Christmas Past. The three postcards are from the Turner donation of postcards and photos. The Greenfield Fire Department photo shows local firemen with toys collected for children of the community. The last four show what every child dreams of – an abundance of toys surrounding the Christmas tree.

Dated December 23, 1915, and was sent to Cora Parks of Greenfield. See November’s page for details about Cora.

Members of the Greenfield Fire Department with their collection of toys collected for distribution to Greenfield’s children. The building directly behind them is the old firehouse built in the early 1900s and was recently torn down. The building behind the firehouse at the far left is the building used by the Patterson & Sons to build buggies and autos. The metal building at the corner of Washington and Lafayette is standing there now. On the right is the roof of the covered drive of the Baptist Church.
Left to right: Glenn Shrock, Pete Spangler, ____, Farris Wolfe, Harry Hafler, Pete Cope, J. Smith, Obert Day, Bill Blazer, Jess Stout, George Wheaton

It is assumed that this photo and the next photo show the same young girl at two different Christmases. Looks like Santa was very generous to her.

We wonder if this and the next photo show the same young boy. Santa was generous to him also. Notice in 2017.15.248 the blocks on the floor that spells out “JOHN WM 1929”. Wonder who the young man is. If you have any ideas, let us know.
